About RDO

RDO Editions was created from a simple belief: that meaningful photography

should not only be seen in museums, galleries, and books ...

but lived with every day.

RDO Editions begins with the work of internationally recognized

fine art photographer Robert Farber, whose images have appeared in books,

museum and gallery exhibitions, major publications, and fashion and

cultural institutions around the world.

As Farber’s editions sold out and their prices rose, the opportunity to collect his work became more limited. RDO Editions was created to preserve that value while opening the door to new and younger collectors through distinct collectible formats.

Introducing
RDO Editions ...

RDO is built around the idea that every photograph is collectible

and carries real history. Pulled from Robert Farber’s museum and gallery editions,

books, and five decades of work, each image comes with a story tied to a moment in time.

The difference is the format, unique collectible editions that open the door for newer collectors to live with the work and connect with the unmistakable aesthetic of Farber’s imagery.

All prints produced on the Canon Pro 4600

RDO offers another way to connect with his work through selected limited-edition prints

and beautifully produced art-related pieces, from exhibition-quality posters

and publications to special projects created specifically for this site.

As Farber's editions sold out and prices climbed, fewer people could collect the work.

RDO Editions keeps the value intact while opening the door to young or new collectors.

Farber's work is the inaugural presentation as we continue to grow, and we will be introducing projects from other internationally recognized visual artists over time.

Many pieces in RDO Editions are chosen not only for collecting, but for sharing, making them thoughtful gifts for those who appreciate photography,

the visual arts, design, and culture.

At its core, RDO is about connection to imagery, to creative history, and to the experience of choosing art because it resonates in your own life.

About Robert Farber

robert-portrait-02-1024.jpg

Robert Farber is an internationally recognized fine art and fashion photographer whose work has influenced generations of photographers. Known for his painterly, atmospheric style and his distinctive way of photographing women, Farber has built a uniquely wide-ranging career spanning classic fashion, beauty, nudes, landscapes, still life, and visual storytelling.

Over more than fifty years, his imagery has included iconic fashion photographs, work with some of the leading supermodels of the time, fine art books, major publications, advertising campaigns, and exhibitions in galleries and museums around the world. With more than half a million books sold, his work has reached an audience far beyond the traditional photography world while maintaining its place in serious collections.

His career also includes the publication of By The Sea with Doubleday after Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis brought him to the publisher. RDO Editions offers a new way to live with that legacy, presenting iconic, rare, and select unreleased images in collectible formats for both new and experienced collectors.

A Personal Message

A Personal Message from Robert Farber

"For over 50 years, I’ve been really fortunate. My work has found its way into galleries, museums, and private collections all over the world. Along the way, a lot of limited-edition images sold out, disappeared into collections, and grew in value.

That’s the art world, and I’m thankful for it.

But as that happened, I started thinking about the other side of it. The more images sell, not only does their value increase, so does their cost, and that naturally means fewer people can collect them. Over time, that closes the door on people who really connect with the work, especially newer and younger collectors.

RDO Editions came out of that thinking.

Some of what you see here takes the form of what I call art posters. That was important to me, because it’s a way to deliver the same iconic images in a different format, without sacrificing quality. They’re produced to museum-level archival standards, and many are signed and dated by me, just like my fine art prints.

What’s here wasn’t chosen randomly. Every image connects to a moment, a shift, or a direction in my fifty-year career. These are photographs that helped define where the work was going, whether it was fashion, nudes, SX-70 Polaroids, or even vintage ads

that took on a life of their own over time.

The difference isn’t in the care or the standards. It’s in the way the work is offered. Smaller sizes, open editions, and formats that make it possible to start collecting

and actually live with the work.

RDO is about opening things up a bit and

sharing the STORIES BEHIND THE IMAGES that matter most to me.

I’m glad you’re here."

Editions

Editions: Open, Limited and Unique Works

Photography is often offered in different formats and edition structures.

Open Edition

Open edition works are not limited to a fixed number of prints.

RDO Fine Art Posters are in open edition.

Limited Edition

Limited edition works are produced in a strictly defined number of prints per size.

For example, in an edition of 6, once those 6 prints are sold no additional prints

are produced in that size. Images in limited editions are thus more rare.

Gallery Pre-Release Fine Art Prints, Farber Book Covers and

Vintage Magazine Advertisements are sold in limited editions.

Unique Works (1/1)

Unique works are one-of-one pieces, a single piece created outside of an edition structure.

For example, paintings are unique, one-of-a-kind works, but a painter may decide to reproduce that painting as a print into an edition structure to sell more of that image. â€‹

Certificates of Authenticity

Certificates of Authenticity

Every Fine Art Poster print is shipped with an official RDO Editions Authentication Label

that is blind embossed and dated with an Image ID:

Gallery Pre-Release Fine Art Prints, Farber Book Cover and Vintage Magazine Advertisements receive an official RDO Editions Certificate of Authenticity that is signed by Robert, dated and stamped with the limited edition number:

Framing

Framing

Personal note about framing from Robert Farber:

"Everything on RDO arrives unframed.

What you’re seeing on the site reflect how I would personally present these works at home not as decoration, but as collectible photography that deserves to be presented beautifully.

These aren’t typical posters. They’re made in my studio with the same archival mindset I bring to my gallery and museum prints. So I’m showing them in frames that respect that, thoughtful choices that make the image feel like it belongs on the wall as true collectables.

Use the framing examples here as inspiration, then make it your own."
