The Quality of Life
I photographed this in New York in 1992 for an advertising campaign for the Italian fashion designer Nino Cerruti. The assignment was to interpret “the quality of life,” and I wanted to do that in a way that still felt true to my own style, with warmth, sensitivity, and atmosphere.
The rays of light and quiet feeling in the image connect directly to my early personal work, especially photographs made in Russo’s studio in Barbizon, France. Even in commercial work, I was always looking for a way to bring that same mood and visual language into the picture.

The Quality of Life is available as a Fine Art Poster
